Tackle the Ireland West 3/4 Marathon

Swinford Athletics Club have announced the launch of the annual Ireland West ¾ Marathon and 5K which will take place on Saturday the 5th of September 2020. IMRA Winter/Spring League Fixtures Announced

The Irish Mountain Running Association have released details of their Winter/Spring League for 2020. The league consists of 5 events building in distance and difficulty each week. In order to qualify for a league position, participants need to complete 3 of the 5 scheduled events. Dunleer AC reign at the 2018 Ras na hEireann

Dunleer AC took first place in both the Senior Mens and Senior Ladies races in the 2018 Ras na Heireann which took place at Oldbridge Estate in county Meath on Sunday last.

Tomás Cotter cruised to victory on a muddy course whilst Karen Costello took the ladies title.

Slieve Gullion Race to kick off NIMRA Season

A race on Slieve Gullion will kick off the Northern Ireland Mountain Running Association Season on Saturday, March 5th at 12pm.

This short race over 3.9 miles with 340 metres of climb takes place over a fairly well defined route and is deemed suitable for athletes of all standards. Trail blazers trek Glendalough to fight blindness

Fighting Blindness has launched its sixth annual Glendalough Trail, taking place in Co. Wicklow on Saturday, October 31, at 11am. Open to all levels of fitness with 15.5km run and 10km jog/walk options.

Over 300 embraced the challenge last year raising €17,000 to support research into finding cures and treatments for sight-loss. Covering a distance of 3.9 miles with a total height gain of 2680 feet, this is one of the classic Northern Ireland hill races taking in Meelbeg, Bearnagh and Meelmore.

NiRunning announce details of annual trail race


The popular running website, NiRunning (www.nirunning.co.uk) this week announced that the 2nd annual running of their 5 mile Trail Race in Ballyboley Forest, just outside Larne.
In early 2014, despite heavy overnight snow and ice, which enforced a complete change of course and Race HQ on the morning of the event, the race attracted over one hundred competitors and proved popular with participants.
