July 19, 2014 @ 1:36 pm – 2:36 pm

1001084_674481329233242_242274769_nFollowing the hugely successful fundraising Night Walk last year, the Sligo Leitrim Mountain Rescue Team are busy planning this year’s event that takes place on Saturday the 19th of July.

Ben Bulben Mountain is an iconic symbol for both Sligo and the rest of Ireland. The challenge to reach the summit is both a personal achievement and a valuable fundraising resource for this volunteer emergency service, assisting them to maintain the high level of training and equipment that the public have come to expect.

There are 3 walk times; 19:30, 20:30 and 21:30 with overall numbers restricted to 200 to maintain the highest level of safety on the hill for both walkers and Team members. For the walk this year, the Team have a half price youth ticket to the first walk of the night, the Twilight walk. The Twilight walk will arrive at the top as the sun is setting and walkers will walk back down in the dark.

Registration will be online only and the registration webpage is now live and can be access via www.sligoleitrimmrt.ie. Applicants are advised to book early as the walk last year sold out.

The Oxfield Centre have again very kindly offered us their valuable resources to enable the Team to concentrate on the task of ensuring the safety of all involved. They are extremely grateful for this, as the logistics of car parking and registration helped make the walk running so smoothly last year.

The walk will take approximately 3 hours climbing to a height of 526m so sign up now for the HIGH LIGHT of your summer.

Check their website, www.sligoleitrimmrt.ie, and their Facebook page, www.facebook.com/SligoLeitrimMRT, for details of registration and payment
