The walk starts from the Village Hall at Portballentrae, Co. Antrim and follows the coastal path via the new visitors centre at The Giants Causeway and on along the cliff top path to the turning point at Dunseverick Harbour. Return is a reverse of the route with the finish point back at Portballentrae. The original route plan took the walkers as far as Port Bradden but due to an untimely rockfall it has been slightly shortened, however this still leaves the distance to cover a challenging 28km.
Registration opens and 8.00am and all walkers are expected to commence no later than 9.00am and to have completed the full distance by 5.00pm to qualify for the award of badges and certificates issued by members of Bannside Ramblers committee.
Members of the St John’s Ambulance, HM Coastguard and Raynet radio will be in attendance throughout the day.
Entry fee is £6 for adults and £3 for children under 14. Dogs are permitted.
Badges and certificates will be awarded to persons completing the full distance, but those wishing to do part of the walk are welcome provided they make their own travel arrangements.
Participants are reminded to come suitably attired for any potential bad weather, have proper footwear and carry a sufficient packed lunch and water.
