On Sunday 12th of August St Josephs GFC in Louth will take on a Sponsored 6km Hill Walk and Activity Day in the Cooley Mountains. This is a great event, open to all, from children to seniors, assuming that they have a moderate level of fitness.
You will get a fully guided walk through one of the finest areas of the Land of Legends, with panoramic views into the Mournes, Carlingford Lough, out to the Isle of Man and down as far as Dublin & Wicklow. There will be buses out and back from St Josephs clubrooms in Dromiskin, refreshments, a stop for lunch along the way. We will be splitting the walk into different groups as it goes along, to cater for different levels of fitness and walking speeds. So this is a walk that will suit the experienced walker, while also being a perfect introduction to hill walking for those who have never done it before.
At the end of the walk there will also be Supervised Watersports. Showers will be available in the Sailing Club to all who wish to have one at the end of the walk or watersports. There will be a complimentary BBQ at the Four Seasons Hotel and a chance to relax for a couple of hours in the peninsula (on this oyster festival weekend!!) before you are bussed back to the Joes clubrooms, where there will be top entertainment for the evening. It certainly promises to be a day full of fun.
The Buses leave St Josephs Clubrooms, Commons Cross, Dromiskin @ 12.30pm and are due to return @ 7.30 that evening. Bus will make pick ups in Dundalk and on route, but only by prior arrangement.
Walkers will need to raise a minimum of €50 in sponsorship to enter the walk/join us on the day out. Sponsorship Cards are now available by emailing firstname.lastname@example.org. Donations can also be made Online using a credit or laser card, to enter your own donations or to support another walker. This is also a handy way of pre registering! All that you have to do is to go to the Joes website. As well as online registration their will be registration on the morning itself.
