The Four Peaks Challenge takes place from Friday 08th to Sunday 10th June 2012. During this exhilarating weekend teams will climb the four highest peaks in Ireland’s four provinces over three days. All done over one weekend and teams will raise €3,800 in sponsorship to help people who are homeless.
Friday 08 June
The weekend kicks off in Killarney on Friday morning when each team will register at the Killarney Youth Hostel before boarding a bus to the base of Carrauntoohil. After this climb is completed walkers are bussed back to the hostel for a shower and a meal. Teams then hit the road with some breaking for the night in Galway and some heading directly to Mayo.
Saturday 09 June
Teams leave Galway city early on Saturday morning for the drive to Mayo. The climb of Mweelrea starts at approximately 11am. After this climb teams are back on the road to spend the night in Newcastle, Co Down.
Sunday 10 June
It’s an early start on Sunday morning, the climb of Slieve Donard starts at 6am. Following this climb, teams will travel to Co. Wicklow where the final climb on Lugnaquilla starts at approximately 2pm. Once all teams have completed their climb the party begins. Certificates are awarded to each participant and a hot meal is available at the base of the mountain for all.
