Donegal Mountain Rescue Team invite you to join them for a fully guided night walk across Urris Ridge on the Inishowen peninsula, Donegal. Urris Ridge is one of Ireland’s classic coastal ridges and the venue for this years DMRT fundraiser. The walk is on Saturday, 22nd June 2013, and will take approx 3 hours, starting at the Grotto on Mamore Gap and finishing at Fort Dunree. As this walk is on the night after the summer solstice (longest day of the year), the views will be spectacular.
The following items have been put in place to ensure the safety of all participants:
Participation is limited to the first 150 registrants.
• Children under 12 years old are not permitted
• Children under 16 years old must be accompanied by an adult
• Consumption of alcohol is forbidden
• Pets are not permitted
Mandatory Equipment Requirements
• Good hiking boots / footwear. STRICTLY NO TRAINERS
• Waterproofs (jacket/trousers)
• No Jeans / Denim
• Hat & Gloves
• Torch (head torch or hand)
• Food (sandwiches, fruit, chocolate, energy bars, etc.)
Walkers will be split into 3 groups with the following start times:
Group 1 – 20.00hrs
Group 2 – 20.30hrs
Group 3 – 21.00hrs
Fort Dunree Military Museum have kindly given DMRT the use of their carpark and facilities to enable us to run the event. Fort Dunree will be the only connection point for the shuttle service taking walkers to the start point. Road access to the start point will be restricted to shuttle buses and emergency vehicles only.
