We asked if you could identify the mountain featured in the picture. Well done to all who got the correct answer.
The answer is Eagle Mountain in the Mourne Mountains. Eagle is one of the lesser-travelled Western Mournes and is well worth a visit in it’s own right. The mountain stands at 638 metres and can be visited by following Batts wall from Deers Meadow onto Pigeon Rock, Slievemoughanmore and then onto Eagle itself.
The summit cairn pictured is situated just a short walk from the wall and acts as a superb platform from which to view the Higher Mournes as well as Spelga Dam.
Well done to Kieron Gribbon who was the first person to identify the mountain.
@walkhikeireland – Eagle Mountain in the Mournes? Pretty sure the water is Spelga Dam and highest peak in the distance is Slieve Bearnagh.

The lake threw a few people
@walkhikeireland Mangerton Mountain? Or Carrountoohill? I think I recognize that little lake in the background.
