The Long Walk Home – Grand Canal Challenge

The Long Walk Home - Grand Canal Challenge
After last year’s highly successful event The Long Walk Home – Grand Canal Challenge is returning for 2013. The event involves participants walking 80km across Ireland from Shannon Harbour to Dublin along the banks of the Grand Canal.

Walking along grass verges and gravel footpaths you will pass beautiful stone bridges, quaint lock keepers’ cottages, historic buildings and pretty villages. You will walk across the Bog of Allen, glimpsing distant views of the Slieve Bloom mountains and admire the canal boats at Lowtown and Sallins. The final leg of the journey will be spent aboard the replica Guinness Canal Barge MV Cadhla gently meandering along a beautiful stretch of Dublin’s Grand Canal between Charlemont Place and the Grand Canal Theatre.

All funds raised will support Peter McVerry Trust’s work with homeless youths.
