The Story Behind The Photo: Errigal Reflection

This entry is part 13 of 18 in the series The Story Behind The Photo

It has been a while since we featured a photo in our ‘Story Behind The Photo’ series of articles but we think you will agree that the wait has been worthwhile when you see the latest shot in the series. We have a very special shot for you courtesy of Derek Smyth. This stunning shot features the iconic Errigal Mountain sitting majestically over Dunlewy Lough in County Donegal. You can see more of Derek’s stunning photography at http://www.dereksmythphotography.com/.

Errigal Reflection
Derek provides some background to the picture:

“This tranquil shot of Mount Errigal was taken while on a Photographic Trip to the Gweedore Area of Donegal several years ago.  It was a beautiful autumn morning with hardly a cloud in the sky and as can be seen from this picture, there was very little wind. These conditions were perfect for photographing Errigal reflecting in the calm water of Dunlewy Lough.  In a landscape shot like this I am always looking for something of interest to have in the foreground and in this photo the two small bushes were just what I was looking for.  I set up my Camera on a sturdy tripod to avoid any camera movement and used a fairly small aperture to get as much of the shot in focus as possible.  I have been to this location several times since I took this shot but have never seen it as beautiful as it was on that autumn morning.”

Many thanks to Derek for allowing us feature this photo.
