The Story Behind The Photo: ‘Summits Flight’

This entry is part 4 of 19 in the series The Story Behind The Photo

We are staying in Kerry for the next photo in our series ‘The Story Behind The Photo’.

Snow on summit of Carrauntoohil, County Kerry, Ireland

Last week we published a piece featuring some photos of snow on The Irish Mountains. This shot was taken by Eoin Lee on the snow-covered summit of Carrauntoohil, Ireland’s Highest Mountain, at the end of November.

Eoin takes up the story..

My photo ‘Summits Flight’, was taken on Saturday the 24th of November, my first day hiking and scrambling in the MacGillycuddy’s Reeks and first ascent of Binn Chaorach and Corrán Tuathail.

Guided by an experienced friend, on a fortunate clear crisp day, we took the Stumpa an tSaimh route, scrambling our way to the summit of Binn Chaorach where I came across my first glipse of Irish snow.

After some lunch we continued on towards Corrán Tuahail, where I had a lucky opportunity to capture a photo of a bird flying away from it’s perch on the cross as we approached the snow lined summit.

A wonderful day in a stunning location.

The photo was taken using a Nikon D80.

You can see more of Eoin’s photos on his Facebook Page.
